When you get a new phone, rest assured that all the AppCreatorPro apps installed on your old phone will work perfectly on your new one. If you have saved “Favorites” on any of your apps, they will be safe and ready to go on the new phone as well.

The easiest way to put your AppCreatorPro apps on your new phone is to transfer the bookmarks from your old phone to the new one. See the User Guide for the make and model of your new phone for instructions on how to do this. Once the bookmarks are transferred, just re-install each bookmarked app on the home screen of your new device.

If you have trouble transferring your bookmarks, just head to the Marketplace at AppCreatorPro, search for the app you need, and add it to the new phone. If you have an app that is not listed in the Marketplace, just contact the business or organization you got the app from and they can provide the link.

Please also contact us directly using the Contact Us form here on the site if you need help locating and installing an app on your new phone!

With daily headlines from the world of social media (which we find very Pinterest-ing), at AppCreatorPro we want you to be connected to all the ways your app and your message can go viral through services like Twitter and Facebook. In this installment of our series about using social media in your mobile marketing mix, we want to highlight the ways that you can start a “ripple” in the big pond of social connections right from the app itself.

First, we just added the ability for you to add social media buttons to the main page of your app. When you or your representative “edit” the app, just look for a new section in the wizard called “Main Page Social.” There, you can enter your public page URLs for Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In. Google+ will be added in our next update. Just fill in the URLs for the services that you want to show on the main page, click save and build, and your app will show those social buttons at the bottom of the page. Easy! (See screenshot below left.)

Second, we have also added the ability to select which image will appear when customers share your app with all their friends via Facebook. On the very first screen of the wizard, App Information, you can now select one of three images for this purpose: the App Logo, the Mobile Icon, or the QR Code. Your logo extends your brand recognition, your icon resonates with what they will see on their phones when they install, and the QR code of course allows anyone who sees the Facebook post to snap your app onto their phones immediately. Your choice!

If you aren’t connecting your app to these free and mega-powerful social networks, it is time to get started!

But that didn’t stop us from proceeding because we had full confidence that we could build what they needed. With some creativity and the adaptive use of an existing platform we were able to create their Build Your Own Dock quote request page. We took the new Pledge Module which had all of the basic elements we needed and put them to a fresh use. We used the upper area to explain how to use the page, we put pictures of the various elements in the center of the page, and left the email message area for the customer to list the elements they want included and to write a description of the overall shape of the dock in question. The Thank You message lets them know they will receive their quote in a few business days, and thanks them for contacting Liberty Dock. It was all very simple and required no extra programming work – just some flexible thinking and a little creativity!

the word from Will

A recent report estimates that by 2016, mobile search will exceed desktop search. The following chart estimates the progress toward that game-changing state of affairs:

What does this mean for AppCreatorPro members? First, this cat is already out of the barn, to mix my metaphors. We know that over 90% of people use their mobile phones at home to search (who wants to get up off the couch to find out the weather on Friday or check out what movie is playing?), so even when desktop search is easy to do, people are eschewing [vocab word of the week] it in favor of their phones. So if you think that people aren’t viewing your products and services on the small screen, think again. And your job is to meet them where they are with fully mobile information and navigation, and not leave them squinting and cursing like we all do when trying to deal with someone’s website on such a small screen.

One way you can make sure they find your AppCreatorPro app and landing pages is to grab the mobile redirect code from the My Apps page and install it on your website (this feature will be available by Valentines Day!). That way, when folks search for you and visit, they will be sent directly to your mobile page rather than your desktop page. Makes a big difference! And because you designed your app to be really, really useful to your clients, they will be able to take action immediately, to give you a call or respond to an offer.

These capabilities are coming next week at AppCreatorPro. We have several enhancements to your service being tested right now, including the ability to grab the redirect code straight out of your account (rather than requesting it as in the past), and a very special new feature that will allow your clients to subscribe to be notified by email when you make updates to your app. Then, you can send an email out to your clients everytime you add or change something, so they know what they are missing if they haven’t checked the app recently.

I will have some more good news about feature upgrades next week when we go live. RSS feed, anyone?

ps. See Bill Gross’s blog post for more on search by clicking here.
